Getting Blogs listed faster in Google Blog

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

Google does offer a service for any one that doesn’t know a ping back, and you can manually ping there servers to tell them you updated your blog, or have made a new post. You can manually ping there server with http://blogsearch.google.com/ping , or do it automatically by adding http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2 to your blog options if you using WP go to ‘update services’ (under options/writing).

If your already listed in there blog index you probably won’t have much to worry about, and are probably getting index at a fairly good rate.

Understanding Blogs and Pings

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

You know I was reading Darren Rowse Problogger.net, which this guy is pretty cool, and have had chances to talk to him in e-mails, and etc. Seems to be a sharp guy with his head on straight, but I was reading something on his blog today about understanding Blogs and Pings, and i think my readers will find this interesting cause I’ve notice a lot of people are confused about the Blog and pings idea.

Take a look

‘The last six months has seen a massive rise in content theft blogs and spam blogs, and there’s one thing these blogs usually have in common, and that’s the whole “Blog and Ping” thing, but if you don’t know what Blog and Ping is, don’t feel bad, because most people don’t.But before I start a word of advice: don’t do it. Knowing and understanding your enemy is important in formulating ways of overcoming and defeating them. People who create these blogs are leeches who deserve nothing less than being banned from the search engines they so desperately seek to be included in.’

Which this came from Blog Herald, and he goes into a great deal of explaing this.

Digital Point Ad-Network

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

DP Ad netowrk - for any of you that haven’t heard of digital point ad network, I don’t think everyones to sure about this, but from what we hear is that its pretty easy to detect algorithmically wise, but I don’t think its a really good thing to use in the seo market, but then again that depends on what you are trying to do and accomplish with your niche.

I have read that some people have got penalized for using this, or there serps have dropped which I highly doubt any one got penalized for using this product, but serp wise that a good question too since no one really knows what the search engine credibility are 100 percent wise.

What the digital point ad-network does is that it put a ad on your site, and the more ads you have on yours the more ads that will be on other sites, and this is text based, so therefore google will spider it and your anchor text, if you was interrested in using this system I guess you could insert ads in every blog post, and etc.

Which I don’t think that would be such a good idea due to the sayings about it, and I just wouldn’t take a chance, but then again put it on a test site and see how it works before you go putting it on one of your main sites that are getting good traffic.

You can learn more about this product at digital point forums, and read about what other members have experienced with this ad-network, basically its just a link farm so therefore probably not such a good idea, and none of the sites are relevant, but then again give it a try, or check into it.

One thing to remember about using this ad-network system is to remember that theres a lot of positives sayings, and negatives sayings about it, so use it at your own risk!

Duplicate Content

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Google can penalize your for having duplicate content, if you have ever wondered what the dupilicate content rules are check out Explaination of google webmaster blog.

A few snippets below

    “What is duplicate content?
Duplicate content generally refers to substantive blocks of content within or across domains that either completely match other content or are appreciably similar. Most of the time when we see this, it’s unintentional or at least not malicious in origin: forums that generate both regular and stripped-down mobile-targeted pages, store items shown (and — worse yet — linked) via multiple distinct URLs, and so on. In some cases, content is duplicated across domains in an attempt to manipulate search engine rankings or garner more traffic via popular or long-tail queries….What does Google do about it?
During our crawling and when serving search results, we try hard to index and show pages with distinct information. This filtering means, for instance, that if your site has articles in “regular” and “printer” versions and neither set is blocked in robots.txt or via a noindex meta tag, we’ll choose one version to list. In the rare cases in which we perceive that duplicate content may be shown with intent to manipulate our rankings and deceive our users, we’ll also make appropriate adjustments in the indexing and ranking of the sites involved. However, we prefer to focus on filtering rather than ranking adjustments … so in the vast majority of cases, the worst thing that’ll befall webmasters is to see the “less desired” version of a page shown in our index….

SEO News, Content Is King

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Content is king - now there is a lot of variables to this, which granted if you have more pages listed in Google the better chance your site is going to get hit, but content is not everything, but which it does helps specially if you got valuable content that your visitors are looking forward too, and if there bookmarking your site thats another plus.

They say a content site with over 1 million uniques a month average off about 5-8 k a month, but then again theres a lot of variables to that, but if you vs that against a e-commerce site which don’t have that many pages cause there more pointing at a product to sale the chances are there sales will be a lot higher

Which any one with a great level of IQ, and someone that is very profound with seo will know the facts of content, and honestly content is not always king which will help build links faster speically blog sites, but with quality links, and good site optimization a e-commerce site can list just as well as a content site.
