When it comes to link building the perfect links can be hard to find, but then again quite simple. I have been going back and forth today with my link builders on what I want done, and how I want it done. Well there response is it’s going to be hard, and I’m thinking to my self no its not going to be hard. The reason they think its going to be hard is because they have been focusing on another technique for other client website that they have, or I should say link building they have done in the pass. The Positive and Negatives of Social Networks
Friday, October 19th, 2007There is a lot of positive and negatives about building social networks (mote positives then anything), and the best thing of all if you build a strong social network you can create a very profitable website by far. Which granted all marketers say that community building is the hardest task of all marketing on the internet, or I should say the toughest strategy, but I disagree. I don’t think community building is a hard task, I just think its a time consuming task that takes a lot of patience.
First is first let me get into the positives of building social networks and how they can benefit your brand, or business in general.
Brand Building - You can use social networks to build your brand. You build the community and get every one aware of whats going on and then before you know it people will start talking about it, so it spreads your name vertically all over the web.
Link Baiting and Building - You can use social networks to build links into your website and promote viral content that you can use for links better yet known as link baits, and of course the result of this will be higher search engine rankings ;).
Product Promotion - You can promote your products more effectively by leveraging your communities out.
Monetization -Â People love to do this, you get so much community interest on the website you can start to monetize it whether it being your on ads or an advertisers. If you get a strong enough community built site you can advertise for 2k plus a month easily depending on how much traffic your getting, now just imagine having 10 banners for 2k a month on your site.
Friends - You will meet a lot of people by having a community site, and you can gain more connections very easily.
Leverage - When your site gets built up you have more leverage the harder part is getting it going, but once you get the blog or forum going you can easily create buzz all over the web.
Ok What are the negatives well there really is not to many negatives, but let me go over a few things that could possibly happen.
Controversy - You could accidentally post something that someone gets offended by and I have seen this happen just recently with someone I know pretty well. It created major controversy and brough a lot of negative attention to the this person which is actually a really good person, but I think the other side got a little offensive about what was said.
Thats pretty much it there not to much bad stuff about having a community site, the positives out weigh the negatives by far, but for any one that is doing well sooner or later there going to draw negative attention one way or another and it happens to every body that has something going. Just part of life in general, but for the best part community building websites rock and they rule the web (through social networks anyways).
SEO Fundamentals Guide Update
Wednesday, October 17th, 2007The other day I wrote a post called the SEO Fundamentals Guide which will cover numerous topics on SEO, mainly its just more of the basic concepts, but it will be very educational regardless on skill level. I just wanted to do an update and tell everyone it should be done any day now I’m working hard to get it done. I have probably put almost 60 hours into it already from research, writing, images, brain storming, and you name it.
I’m hoping it will be done tomorrow, or today, but for some odd reason I’m thinking it will be done Friday for sure that usually always happens to me I get a little over confident and think things are going to happen much quicker, but they don’t I have gotten my self into trouble a few times for thinking like that, but yes it should be done any day if there is any questions you guys got or any recommedations feel free to throw in your suggestions.
Out sourcing SEO
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007Ask th SEO Guru just did a great write up on out sourcing SEO. He covered a few topics such as the average programmers pay rate in the us compared to India. Quite honestly I think US programmers are under paid big time. 40k a year is very low thats like barely enough money to live some what ok if you ask me. I think the on going rate for programmers should be at 50k plus a year, but then again I guess that depends I’ve seen some government jobs offering pay rates at 70-80k a year, but getting a government job can be more complicated then just walking in the ordinary IT company.
Well Massa covered the pay rate in India which is about 1k a month for a programmer sometimes less depending on location and geographical areas. The thing is about this post I like most he mentioned you must have management in place and thats very true such as having someone you can trust to make sure every one is doing what there supposed to be doing, and of course you would pay this person the most out of every one.
Out sourcing anything IT related can be very beneficial, and profitable, but the thing is if your just the average person looking for a company to build your website or do your SEO you will be a lot better of hiring a US company because out sourcing takes some skills and you have to know how to work with the people, so if your someone looking for SEO services don’t automatically think you can go hire a seo company in India and have great results, you’d be a lot better leaving it up to a us company to handle all this.
The reason I say leave it up to a US company is because there is a lot more to it, you have to know who you can trust and can work with. Generally when you been around for awhile you meet certain people and you know who you can trust. You know how to grade people skills set, you know who more reputable, and etc. For example could you just go in somewhere with out know anything about a certain field such as a doctor and take care of the hiring for them, no I don’t think so. Thats why your best to stick with then your grounds out sourcing is not for every one if you ask me.

The Long Tail Search
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007You know personally I go for competitive terms such as web design, website design, internet marketing, and I go for long tails but the reason I got for such competitive terms for is because I run a SEO company, so its excellent for branding if you get my drift. Now they say the long tail converts better which in one sense this is true, but then again depends. When your targeting terms you want the terms to evolve around your website.
For example if your in the web design business, but you only serve smaller business then you would use terms such as small business web design, busines web design, or just anything you could mime up to fit that category. Now with broad terms such as website design you will attract a wide audience of people such as small business, corporate, smaller companies, larger companies, and etc. The best way to target your terms is to just test, test, and test and see whats running smoothly.
Generally when a client calls me I try to get target keywords that are at least getting 25-100 clicks per day through adwrods. Reason being is because some keywords out there just never get no traffic, but then again a mixture of everything works great. I just like to know that there getting results with certain keywords, just my way of doing things and it sure does work. I could target 30 keywords for a client thats estimating at 1500 clicks per day through the traffic estimator on Google and they get some great traffic from it plus other queries around that.
Test, Test, Test and once again test and see what works best. If you have any questions please feel free to comment below.
Ranking and Links
Monday, October 15th, 2007You know I had an old time associate I guess you could say, well he called me up awhile back and was telling me he was ranking for certain keywords with out links. I’m thinking to my self ok, but then I told him if you can rank with out links then you got it made. He just kind paused and was like yea. I think he knew he was not ranking for anything with out links maybe very non competitive keywords and he was probably only ranking for one keyword.

How should you structure your site
Thursday, October 11th, 2007Structuring a site can have some effects on your website actually pretty large effects if you have a larger website. You could lose some pretty big dips if you don’t have your website structured properly such as inner links (inner folders), and etc. I know there is some site structures we need to work on on our website which its not a really big problem, but we just like to make sure we do things 200 percent right.

Thursday, October 11th, 2007Having a website with massive content can create a lot of inbound links to your website any one that is very famaliar with SEO knows this. Great content = links. Educational content can get you edu links.
