Networking is the Key to Success!

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Ok I wouldn’t say this is the key to success, but networking with people can expand your business a lot, let me say this again *a lot* the reason being is because the more people that know about you the better. I mean would you want a brand that hides in the closet all the time and no one knows about it well believe it or not thats how some brands are, so therefore I guess we wouldn’t consider them a brand.

You know I can be self opinionated sometimes, but for some odd reason I see a lot of start ups or people trying to get up in the game, but they have no exposure such as exposing there name and this is vitally important. You need somewhere to expose your brand and sometimes the best way to do that is by virally building social networks.

The idea behind networking is to create the networks whether its through word of mouth, advertising, or whatever you can get to work for you. The best method of all is to create a viral market something that will create buzz and keep people talking about you if you ask me personally I don’t think there is any better way because when you have brand exposure you can price your services the way you prefer to price them the reason being is because strong brands out beat closet brands when I say closet brands I’m referring to brands that people are not aware of or heard of.

Take a look at the list of ways you can create these networks.

  1. Blogs: If you have the time create a blog this will create more brand exposure. Blogs take time, but are well wroth the time and effort thats for sure.
  2. Advertising: Advertising can create brand awareness to which granted it takes money, but its worth it thats for damn sure.
  3. E-Mail Marketing: E-marketing can be effective, but it takes a lot don’t expect to send out 10 e-mails and get a reply expect to send out 1000’s of e-mails like I said it takes a lot.
  4. Pay Per Click: Run a PPC campaign and offer good service and get people to talk about it this will build social networks.
  5. Attend Trade Shows: If you are welcomed or can speak at at trade show do it this creates major brand exposure.

The idea is to combine everything you got and give it everything you got most generally this will create social networks for example if people start seeing your ads every where or they hear about the things you have done then it will start shaking and creating buzz and thats the idea.

The more buzz the better… ;)

The Secrets to Building Viral Content

Sunday, January 13th, 2008

Building content takes time, but there is things you can do to make it work better or I should say to make it more effective. The content should be something that comes out and grabs people’s minds, so in other words think virally. Anyways read on and I’ll give you some tips on how to create a viral website that will grab your users.

Viral Title: Try to use a viral title if at all possible, use titles that will grab peoples attention. For example read the titles below and maybe this will give you an idea of what I’m talking about.

  • 101 Ways to Have Better Sex
  • The Secrets to Link Baiting
  • 101 ways to get rich

The titles above were just 3 examples, honestly its up for you to decide on what you should write. And keep in mind some of your titles will work and some will not work you just have to test and see what works and what doesn’t work then when you start to find out what works drive your mind into that direction.

Detailed Post: Sometimes detailed post can help which don’t take me wrong I’ve see very short post become link bait, but most generally these post will have pictures or videos that are very creative.

Images: Use images in your post that matches your content. You can find great images from places like Flickr, Google Images, and etc, but I would recommend Flickr because they’re images are open to the public to use. Google on the other hand is probably showing a lot of images that are not open to the public so your best off creating your own or using flickr.

Learning Guides: Craft up some nice online guides for people to read, these can become very effective if its viral enough you could probably promote it through PPC (Pay-Per-Click) or whatever you feel comfortable with. The best thing to do honestly is to write up a large guide of some sort then advertise it on other peoples websites or promote it through social networks just find out what channels are working for you and then take advantage of it.

Persistency: I’d have to say this is the key factor, and thats staying persistence. Being persistence is what it takes to build a link worthy website, so in other words it takes time. Staying and being persistence is the most challenging part of building a viral content website the reason being is because its very easy to get burned out specially when you don’t or haven’t gotten the results you wanted yet and sometimes you might feel like your working for nothing, but your not your just actually building your content up and getting the website laid out and testing to see whats working.

If your goal is to build an online business through viral content then your up for a challenge, but keep in mind the results can be astonishing. When I say the results can be astonishing that is no joke they can be, but can you actually handle working night and day for days at a time with out getting any results in your beginning stages, ask your self that.

If you can do that and understand it takes time to get things on the roll or I should say takes time before you actually start to find things that work then your ready to go, but if not then I would suggest you go work for someone else to be quite honest because building a business through viral content takes a lot of effort, motivation, and etc.

So in other words give it all you got, and that right there is the main secret to building a online business through viral content!

Viral Marketing Stand By :)

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Building buzz in the web sphere can make small brands look big, or grow a small brand into a large brand if done effectively. The reason I say small brands can hit growth at a faster rate is because most generally high quality brands are built through image, buzz marketing, and etc.

Lets say a blog for example you ever notice some of the biggest blogs on the web grow through buzz marketing in other words creating shake in the web world so the popularity of that blog increases, and popularity around a brand can be effective if leveraged right.

I think every one has talked about the hotmail that literally exploited over night, not really, but with then a few months hot mail grew from nothing to millions of users with then a quickness, but how did this happen?

Simple hotmail successfully launched there product as a free e-mailing service, but at the same time they had there name plugged into every one e-mails at the bottom pretty much a signature that they inserted into all out going e-mail, so therefore every one else would see this and then they would decide to sign up.

Thats just an example of word of mouth marketing, viral marketing, buzz marketing or whatever you want to consider it, but honestly its considered a more of a viral market approach then anything because it grew so fast, but at the same time it created a word of mouth market to because it grew so fast, so it basically just kept growing.

Then you have some ideas that just literally grow from planting a seed somewhere when I refer to planting a seed I’m referring to something that someone might do such as writing an article up then out of the middle of no where it hits Diggs home page and is mentioned on numerous news sites and gets 1000’s of links which will result in higher search engine rankings; therefore, this results in more traffic, buzz, and etc.

The idea though honestly behind viral marketing is to test, test, and test and see what works not everything will work off the get go, but as you keep approaching and keeping your mind into a viral marketing approach things will start to come together thats just how it works to be honest with you there is some things I thought would never work and other people have thought my ideas were crazy at certain times, but I really didn’t care what others had to say I put the idea into place and its grew like a tree on steroids which I won’t get into what I did :).

Search Engine Optimization Tips and Check Up

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

I think we all have to do this from time to time such as check or re-evaluate our website then you get to that point where you know its right, but then again you might be over looking something simple. The reason I decided to write this article is to give you guys some insight on things that should be checked for or maybe some of the things below will remind you of a few things that you need to do to your website.

  1. Content Density: Check your content density make sure your using your keywords, but at the same time don’t get to caught up on this I would focus more on well written content. Now if you see a few places you can slide somewhere keywords in do it just make sure you keep your content well written and very professionally looking.
  2. Search Engine Friendly URLS: Make sure your urls are search engine friendly and always use your keywords in your domain names. We have clients all the time that call us and you would be surprised on what there urls look like its just crazy they have long session id’s in the urls and believe it or not if you format these into a search engine friendly url with a great title and make sure the whole website structure is at its best it can increase your traffic.
  3. Build More Links: Building links is something you always have to do speaking your wanting your company to continually grow, so always make sure your building links, but at the same time keep in mind quality is the key and not quantity.
  4. Usability: Granted usability might not effect your rankings in Google, but it can determine how well your clients convert, and there out look on your business.
  5. Titles: Check your titles and make sure there relevant to your website of course, but at the same time try to use keyword rich titles and if at all possible use your brand name in the title.
  6. Crawability: The best way to make sure your website is crawlable by search engines is to download a Lynx Text Only Browser this is a text only browser and if your website is navigable through out the whole Lynx Text Browser then it will be fit for search engines.
  7. Increase Content: You don’t have to do this, but if you don’t have a blog why not install one having a blog installed can majorally increase brand awareness and links speaking you stay motivated and keep crafting up high quality content on a daily bases.

Which granted if your a SEO guru then you know there is way more to SEO then what I’ve listed, but this is to give beginners or even remind experts of things that generally need to be done or it might even remind you of things that you need to improve through out your website.

Designs That Market Your Product

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

You know I might not be the best designer by any means that for sure actually I don’t even use photoshop I use to play around with it a lot when I was younger, but now I don’t have time and were actually doing some hiring for our company mainly just contractors, so in other words in house positions for the time being.

The thing is designs they must be high quality the reason being is because this is how you can alter your consumers heads. Your probably wondering how would I do that well for example you ever looked at something and your thinking to your self that is just out right cool I love the way it looks well thats the same thing for your business you have to make it look like your happening.

We have had a lot of people call us and give us credit on our website and tell us they don’t know what it is, but they love the look which granted I don’t think it looks the best as it should I’m shooting for something more web 2.0 looking, but at the same time corporate looking because we want to continue attract high quality consumers.

If you want your business to come out and bite at people keep this in mind when getting your website designed, I mean think of it would you want your website looking average or would you want it looking beatified where people just look at it and say wow and that right there is the idea you have to hook people in through out different directions and leverage them, so when your getting a site designed or designing a site give that some thought.

Buzz Marketing in The Web 2.0 Sphere (v7n Hacked)

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

Today I’m setting here and looking at v7n Forums do you think it got hacked I mean it could of, but I wouldn’t doubt it if it was done on purpose by John and if so I give him all the credit in the world because thats a very innovative way to create buzz and then leverage the after math into sales, more forums signs ups, and etc.

It’s also a way to get your brand out there a little bit more. Which I don’t know if John did this on purpose or not, but if he did that was a very smart thing to do because I looked it up on the web and I already seen numerous forum post about it and people blogging on it and etc.

There is several ways of creating a buzz market, for example Aaron Wall the author of SEO Book he had a company threaten to sue him over the book he wrote because they was saying that he supposedly revealed trade secrets.

How to bring valuable Content into Serps (Your Brand Name)

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

Article promotion is not a super effective way of promoting your name, but it is a way to maybe get people aware of your name. I was setting here thinking and I notice no one has done it yet, or well I don’t think any one has done it yet, and that is promoting articles through search engines around your brand name.

For example say you write up 25 articles of things your company has successfully done. Let’s say one of them was bringing your company or a client into the top 5 for internet marketing why not write up an article about it and the techniques you used to do this with, but at the same time promote these articles in other words have your friends link to them with your desired anchor text which can be your brand name so for example say your brand name is DeWitt’s Media which is ours I’m just using that for an example well if your friends link to that with that anchor text then people will find it.

The idea behind this is to build brand awareness because most generally when someone calls a company after they get off the phone with you they might search your brand name I know a lot of people do it with our company because they say hey we looked your name up and etc.

I think this could be very effective if done right, and at the same time it is completely ethical if you ask me. Speaking the articles are legit and something you’ve really done. I would hire a content writer to produce these articles and then go from there. If done right this could build a more of a brand specially when your clients are searching for your name on the web because believe me I think a lot of people do this after they get off the phone with someone and if they see your articles and the stuff you have done you will leverage them in more.

Another thing that can be really effective is viral marketing of course to create buzz and get people talking about you, or you could create controversy, but be careful with doing that you don’t want to create any negative vibes through the web, or you could build links into someone else’s site that has said positive things about you I’m sure they wouldn’t mind :).

4 Ways to promote Affiltiaes

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

Today I had a client call me well not a client, but a consumer and he had an affiliate website he was wanting us to build him nothing special or anything the website will cost him about ~8k just a smaller site to keep track of his affiliate sales and etc then I come to mind why don’t I write a blog post on up promoting affiliates and where to promote them. Which there is several ways of promoting affiliates, but anyways check the tips out below.

  1. PPC (Pay Per Click): Pay per click can be an excellent way to promote affiliates through, but be careful if your not experience with PPC start out low and do not go big until the time is right.
  2. Organic Search: The idea behind this is to build an affiliate store and then promote products through your website we did a redesign at http://www.footwearbox.com which the redesign is not up yet for some odd reason our client hasn’t put it up I think he got all excited about promoting affiliates and didn’t follow through on his ideas, but that an example of an affiliate shop and you can build links into the affiliate store and promote the products through organic search which its time consuming and can take awhile to get results, but the out come is great!
  3. Affiliate Blogs: I know several people that have been really successful at doing this for example John Chow he does a lot of this and shoemoney.com it a good niche to get into if your someone that can get a blog going it takes a lot of work, but is well worth the work thats for damn sure.
  4. Monetize Websites: If you have a prior website thats getting hammered with traffic monetize it with relevant affiliates programs and watch it take off.

Which granted there is a ton of ways to promote affiliates, but the most chose methods is probably PPC well thats what it seems like. I actually talked to someone few weeks ago that was making around 40k a month profit through affiliates, and believe it or not thats is small some guys are going 100k plus a month and even more then that believe it or not. It takes time thats for sure time and patience, but with long enough hours and etc any one can be successful at it if you ask me its just about like anything.
