Building Blog Reputation

Blogs are the best thing to have in the world specially if your on of them people that are getting pounding with traffic. I have been going back and forth with numerous publishers in our database for our contextual network, and there asking how do I improve the blog and etc. I had one publisher that had ads scattered every where on her page, and probably had 50 outbound links on her website it was crazy, nice lady and everything. She actually had some great blogs - she just needed to remove some of that junk.

Generally when someone comes to your blog they look at things such as design, ads, layout, colors, and so many other things. When you first start out start out with something thats very well organized, and clean. Think about it would you want to read the new papers if everything was all scattered around, and had ads everywhere on the new paper and it was just organized poorly, believe it or not that type of stuff can kill your blog.

Also try to stay away from things such as putting PPP, blogsvertise badges on your website reason being this is telling people your just selling links. You want people to come to your weblog because its what you write about on your own time, and etc. If you do decide to monetize your blog give it a clean style. Which I would not suggest monetizing your weblog until you at least get 1000 rss subscribers, I mean you can monetize it sooner, but I wouldn’t get all caught up on that in the beginning stages.

Focus on the quality of your blogs, and build some links into it. I would suggest building high authority links into it of course therefore your post will easily be seen. If your someone thats really serious about getting your blog built up put a couple grand a month into your blog in high quality organic links. Just some way of getting the content out there faster and getting people to realize who you are, just focus on branding, quality, design, layout, and building that one blog up.

Don’t go creating 20 blogs to join a pay per post network or something like that try to focus on more quality type stuff cause in the long run you will make a lot more money focusing on branding and quality. It is ok to take deals from people on selling text links, but just don’t be in it for that only. Cause if you are generally your blog will never make any serious cash that you can live off of, such as large cash flow amounts. I should say money thats worth having that can buy a house, and car if you get my drift.

Take a look below at the list of what I think a higher quality upscale blog should have, and some things you can do to promote it such as using adwords, and building links.

  1. Quality - Focus on quality, build the blog that will differentiate you from every one else. Your blog don’t have to look the same as every one elses. I’ve notice this a lot every blog publisher goes out builds a similar design as what every one else has, do what you think looks best just be creative which you’ll find your self changing things around from time to time.
  2. Monetization - Once again do NOT monetize your website right off the bat, in the beginning stages focus on building that brand, and getting readers in there.
  3. Grammar - Please write clear, use very professional writing. I would have to say content writing on a weblog is by far the most important thing, and I’ll be honest this is something I need to work on my self.
  4. Colors - use great looking colors this would fall back under the category of design.
  5. Links - gees just like I said earlier don’t have 100 outbound links on your website this is bad, maybe if your blog is getting pounded with traffic and its well branded then you can start adding links, but over all don’t just go adding every ones link in the world for reason.
  6. Link Out - Link out to higher quality website this will also get you more involved with other bloggers and etc. Plus you’ll get a lot of link juice from linking out, I seen tons of blogs that still allow page rank flow from there comments and track back

So in other words I guess i could say be *stuck up* about you blog. Don’t allow everything on it, when people see you value your blog a lot more they will respect you a lot more believe it or not. You will always find your self changing things around from time to time such as monetization of where ads go, design elements, writing, and etc. This is good though cause generally when your changing things around its for the better not the worse your seeing what you can do to improve the over all quality of it, and thats the idea always focus on building it up and what you can do to make it better. If you have this type of attitude you will succeed.

    Tyler,

I find the yellow, a tad too yellow. SO BRIGHT!!!! I like this article and i agree with you that we must not be too overzealous over monetizing our blogs with too many outbound links on the homepage. That’s also one of the reasons i keep mine clean. No one like a cluttered blog. Thanks for sharing

Yea yellow is nice though. Were plan on changing a few things around here in the future, but more then anything we had to get the new website up asap due to many reasons, but were working on our next one, or at least going to make this one more community driven.

Yup its a good idea to focus on the quality of your blog and not have so many ads on it right away.
