Why are Blogs So Great For Marketing?

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

I have mentioned a quite of few times that clients have told me they don’t’ like blogs and some of them have loved blogs, or maybe some of them don’t even know what blogs are or how they can use them to leverage there market into sales. I’ve also had one client tell me blogs were useless because he didn’t want people just hanging out on his website and right then I knew he had no idea on what he was talking about, but anyways let me list the facts on why blogs are great to have.

Brand Awareness
You can use blogs to leverage your brand if you have a list of subscribers or I should say if you have built a list of subscribers over time most generally these subscribers will promote you in the way you express your self or market your self. For example if your great at what you do such as graphics design and people know it they will spread your name virally not only through word of mouth, but even social networks like forums and etc.

Viral Content
You can use blogs to promote viral content and the result of this will be links. Generally when you promote great content you will establish links and of course that will result in better search engine rankings. You can promote your content either through PPC (Pay-Per-Click), Organic Search Engines, Forums, or even social networks site such as Digg, Reddit, and Stumble Upon.

Generally if your subscriber list is at large you won’t have to try to promote your content to much it will move on its own, but I was using ppc, and etc as an example on how you can get things on the roll.

Increased Content
The more you blog, the more content that is listed in the search engines and I don’t know if you have ever heard of the phrase content is king if so then there you go. I would have to agree as long as you have great content and a bunch of it people will start linking to it, and plus search engines love content rich websites and they love websites that change periodically such as new pages all the time.

Conclusion
These are just a few things on how blogs can have a positive impact on your website. Which granted they can come useful for many things and they have for me. Sometimes blogs will create networks that your not even aware of, but more then anything I would suggest using them for a leverage tool for marketing. There excellent for links and I would suggest every website having a blog whether it being a e-commerce site to a fortune 500 company get one today and install it.

Building Internet Love

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

Blogging is something that brings people together, it builds communities. You must be able to build the connections though for your blog to be successful. Whether its through you writing, or making friends. I’ll be honest I’m having a hard time expressing what I’m visualizing in my head right now. For example would you whether have 100 people subscribed to your feed that are dedicated and will promote your name through forums and other social networks, or would you whether have 1000 people that are not loyal and dedicated to promoting your feed and that are not that active in your community.

If you ask me quite honestly I would love to have 100 people over 1000 that was more dedicated have you ever seen certain forums that have less users, but the forums seem to be more active then other forums with more members. The reason for this is because people probably built a tight relationship up with every one, so things are rolling smoothly, and plus when you have 100 friends that are subscribed to your feed that are loyal and participate a lot more the chances of your community growing will be at a lot higher rate.

Which granted people being subscribed to your feed is great, but try to find a way to make connections with every one that reads your feeds whether your communicating with them through e-mail or what. When you do this your building relationships with people and people will think of you a lot more and just like I said earlier the chances of your community and blog taking off will have a higher success rate.

The thing is the reason a lot of blogs and forums are not successful is because people don’t take the time out to do it right, and they get tired of it. It takes a lot of dedication and motivation to build community driven website, but the power of building social networks is like having the web right there, like your in control of your niche, and the bigger your community grows the better, so in other words before you start a blog or anything like that remember try to build connections with people that will be loyal to you and stay really active in the community because these people can help you out a lot.

Shoe money Vs Jhon Chow (Who’s going to win)

Friday, October 26th, 2007

I was just checking Shoemoney.com website out and looking at his RSS feed which I generally check his blog out every day and a few others, but I wanted to see who was in the lead. Looks like its pretty even, but for some odd reason I think Jeremy has something up his sleeve because Jeremy has been working with PPC marketing for awhile, and not say John is not a smart marketer (with blogs), but I think Jeremy could easily exploit his RSS feed by setting up some landing pages then using PPC to increase it (speaking he hasn’t already).

Theres been a lot of sites thats used ppc to increase there rss feed, e-mail list, and etc (thats how v7n.com started). Thats actually something we might do this next month using keycompete.com which I have been checking into. Most of our traffic comes from search engines which are very competitive terms such as website design and etc were officially on page 9 (in our data center some centers are reading page 15) for internet marketing and its coming up, but most of that traffic is directed the other way such as services and etc.
I need to set the site up where it will funnel all the traffic into the blog and rss feed (landing page), so it will shoot the RSS up, and when I got to thinking of it I’m quite surprised Jeremy’s not doing this yet, or if he don’t have it planned. I don’t know exactly what type of Ratio rate that would have on the landing page with PPC because I focus on organic search a lot, but I’d imagine you would get a quite a bit sign ups if you funneled the traffic right, and then there on out you can leverage the people you got subscribed into a more viral space such as posting quality content and hopefully the people that are subscribed will start spreading the content by linking to it or through out social networks.

Which granted you can use organic search and drive it to your blog, or a landing page so you can hook people in. Which there is a difference in the two of them take a look below on how the two can be different.

PPC - Well with PPC you can drive traffic thats fast, quick, and target your precise keywords. Which is great, but the down fall of it is you’ll have more money invested into PPC then what you would organic search, but either way if you optimize your PPC correctly you can keep the clicks pretty low, but the traffic at a steady rate, but you’ll have to continue paying out to keep traffic coming, keep in mind its still wroth the investment speaking your RSS is going up.

Organic Search - The great thing about organic and this is why I love organic search so much is that you can use it on a landing page or funnel the traffic into your landing page, but once you get the rankings established generally the traffic just keeps coming and you don’t have to keep paying money out. You can either build links naturally or buy them a lot of people prefer to buy them then they leverage there users for link baits and etc.

Conclusion

Which granted there is several ways of getting a feed up such as using Digg, Reddit, Forums, Search Engines, and just networking all together. Either or social networks are great for building links, creating buzz, and you name it. I just seem to think Jeremy has something up his sleeve to win this content I actually think its a great contest because it really gets there head on about increasing there RSS subscribers up, so in the long run it will actually benefit both of them.

Also keep in mind if your really wanting to learn more about getting your RSS up or whatever pay attention to what people do. For example right now would be a good time to pay attention to shoemoney.com and johnchow.com and see what there doing to get there RSS feed up you never know you might learn something you don’t know already.

The Writers Connection

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I just wrote a recent post about perception is everything and in the post I talked about the connection I had with another blogger that works at seomoz who is Rebecca (Hi Rebbecca  :) ). Well when I was reading the post I felt very connected to it, so I linked to it. See how little things like that can connect people and thats the same thing that every blogger needs to do if you ask me learn to connect with people, learn to think like your readers which blogger have said over, and over again.

When you connect with other people like this it can build social networks and get you more noticeable. Which I’m not saying go write about something if you don’t connect with someone because then people will know your faking it of course ( so don’t be the moron out of the crowd) , but if you feel connected to something that someone else has wrote blog about it, and build connections with other people its very fun.

Thats why blogs are so special for you can use them to connect with people, and its so broad. Kind of hard to explain the exact vision I have, but I’m sure you guys get my drift on what I’m trying to state. Maybe I’m just a little bit more passionate about the whole blog connection thing then what other people are.  Anyways try it and learn from it!

Using Social Media Leverages

Friday, September 28th, 2007

I was just reading a post by Donald Trump called Leverage: The secret of Unstoppable Success I would have to say this makes a lot of sense and its reasonable very true. Do you notice he stated using social media can leverage your business. This is exactly what I have been talking about in my prior post when I’ve had clients call me up and say social media is a waste of space (very few) or they don’t want people just hanging out on there website. I’m pretty glad he wrote about this, but anyways.

Blog Building 101

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Below is a list of blogging tips I though was educational wise. Read through them and see what you can get from them. You’ll learn a lot from them all, a lot of the time I tell people to even check back to the same articles they have been reading because they’ll learn more from them as they come back. Sometimes you read stuff, but really don’t understand it until you read it 2-3 times. I remember actually reading in a book somewhere that was talking about the brain and comprehension and it said actually the human brain really don’t start comprehending things until its read 3 times in a row, or the brain don’t have the full idea of what the article is trying to state or the writer, but then it said it highly depends on your IQ level, but anyways read on.
