Define Your Online Measurements

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

1047874526_d9bbdeb4b9_s.jpgMeasurements in marketing is vitally important you must know your ins and outs in web 2.0. You must know what your making money off of and whats converting by every means. If you did not know this it would be impossible for you to run a business. You just can’t go putting money into something with out getting some type of return which granted some things can take time before you get actual results, and even some things require a lot of money and time before you see results such as a year or so, and then again some things you’ll get automatic return.

Anyways read on and I’ll give you a few tips on how you can improve your online marketing strategy and how to define your metrics more in depth.

Focus on Channels

Finding channels to market through is quite simple. The thing is what channels are going to convert and how will your site grow from these channels. These are some chances that you have to take, for any business to be successful they must be able to take chances and live on the edge every once and awhile you won’t get any where not trying.

When seeking channels to market through do your research of course, but don’t get all uptight or angry if it does not work out the way you plan. Thats where your measurements fall into place, I know I have lost a quite a bit money when I hardly had any advertiser budget, but at the end things have come out pretty good I just learned from my mistakes and what to do to make it better or improve it.

How to Find Channels to Market Through and What You Should Choose

Finding channels to market through is simple contacting a site or running PPC (Pay Per Click) Campaigns. These are the things you need to decide on you can pick any of these channel to market through, but where are you willing to invest your time and money at.

Measurement Tools to Install (Analytics)

By far Google Analytics is a must install you can measure your traffic in numerous different ways. There is other software out there to use, but I highly recommend using Google Analytics just because its free and it gives very accurate measurements compared to AwStats and etc. The good thing about Google Analytics you know where your traffic is coming from and what keywords people are using. There is a ton of information that it offers. I’ll be honest I haven’t my self even had time to play around with everything and learn it from inside out, but from all the features that we used have been pretty effective or its come into use a lot.

Customer Questions

Be sure to ask your prospects question such as how they found you, what keywords were used, referring site, and etc. A very good thing to do is when you have a price quote form have a option on there asking them how they found you and where you came from. This is an excellent thing to do, so therefore you’ll know where you wasting your money at and etc.

For example say we launce something that requires people to sign up well we go advertising on 10 websites all them 10 websites are sending traffic, but who is actually signing up? Simple you ask these questions before they will be approved therefore you can get accurate measurements from where your getting a ROI back and then you can eliminate any channels that are not bringing profit margins or increasing your sign ups what ever it is you have to offer.

Modeling is the Measurement

Keep in mind when modeling your products or company online to always progress it into market places that will become useful to the consumers this will approve your marketing metrics such as higher ROI. When you define your model for a market place that is in high demand it gives you more of ability to price your products higher with then that certain market place because its in need.

Think about it you define a business model online that every one else has produced. The market will be over crowed to many people offering the same thing, but not enough consumers to eat it up. Now you can design a model similar to what these other business have done, but do something that will differentiate your self from these peopl do something there not offering that will pull leverage your way and then balance that leverage into sales.

Conclusion

The idea behind online marketing is to find highly profitable channels to market through that other people have not done yet, and to know your measurements. With out knowing your measurements chances are your going to have a hell of a time converting sales and etc. Give it some thought and test and what don’t work eliminate it and what does work replicate it into another channel.

Keyword Research Measurement Tips (learn what converts best)

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Conducting a keyword research can be something that is timely specially if your not famaliar with the certain niche your conducting it for. There are several ways to conduct a keyword research and getting accurate measurements and that right there is what its all about is knowing your measurements and whats converting the best.

Anyways Read on and I’ll give you a few tips on how to conduct a research.

Research Pages

Research each page on your website so you will know or at least have an idea of what vertical you want to target for each given page on your website. Sometimes you might not feel like there certain keywords that could correlate with certain pages on your website, but there is you need to set down and brain storm, and figure out whats going to work best and whats not going to work. If you have a page that is related to baby carriages, then you’d build related keywords around that page so all your search traffic will be at its highest conversions levels.

You want to make sure each page on your website is related to the keyword that your optimizing for. Most generally the more related the keywords the higher the conversions which granted you can use some off topic keywords and they might convert, but on your inner pages try to stay away from big broad terms always use your long tails towards your inner pages a few broad terms might be ok, but long tails generally convert better like I stated, so therefore you will have a better overall ROI (Return on Investment).

Keyword Tools

There are several tools to use, now don’t take these tools into considerations such as having an accurate measurement by any means. The idea is to know your measurements and where your conversions are coming from specially in affiliate marketing, but I’ll get more into how can measure your traffic with certain keywords right off the bat, but for now check out some of the tools located below.

  • Free WordTracker Keyword Suggestion Tool: Word Tracker offers a free tool report and a paid tool report. Which of course the paid tool report is better, but if your just getting into the game play around with the free tool at first it will mime you up around 100 keywords so for example if you run a search on Baby Gifts it will give you a list of recommedations on what you should use. Like I stated earlier this is just a suggestion tool it will give you keyword suggestions on what to use and whats being search the most. Overall its more accurate on giving you what terms have the highest searches. So for example Baby Gifts will show a higher result because its getting searched more then Baby Gift Products, or something similar.
  • Adwords Keyword Tool: Adwords keyword tool gives you an estimate search volume it don’t precisely give you a number or anything like that, but like I have said it just gives you an idea on whats being search for. It will return results such as Estimated Search Volume, Advertiser Competition, Monthly Search Volume, and etc. You can also add these keywords to your AdWords campaign after you get done researching them which I wouldn’t suggest doing that. It is always best to hand pick the keywords or I should say eliminating the ones that don’t correlate with your business model (keep in mind high conversions).
  • Keycompete: Keycompete is a great tool I love this tool more then anything most generally this tool is used for AdWords, but it could be used for organic search. This tool will scrape your competitor keywords and give you the keywords there using. It works very well I’ve used it on a quite of few things.

Adwords for Measurements

You can use adwords for a measurements and its well worth the investment. Mime up your keyword list and then run an ad words campaign and see what is getting searched for the most and whats getting the most clicks. This can give you some true data results. If you haven’t used adwords then I would suggest checking it out its very powerful tool for search marketing and can be very profitable, but you can also use it as a keyword tool for your measurements when optimizing for organic search like I stated above ;).

Conclusion

The idea behind optimizing for organic search engines and performing keyword research is to know your measurements, know what works best and why its working best of course. You might not get the best measurements for months specially if your unexperienced, but as time goes by and you keep working with it you’ll start to figure out what keywords are converting the best on certain pages, and the thing is make sure you always use very niche related keywords towards your inner pages they will convert very high don’t get all lost on them broad terms that drive 20 times more traffic focus on the long tail of the search something that will convert at a high ratio therefore your measurements and over all conversions will be at its highest.

SEO Scams and Why Online Business Fail

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

You know I go playing around on numerous parts of the web sometimes when I have free time just to see what every one else is doing such as in services. I see a lot of low price models for seo like 100 dollars I’ll review your site and get you top rankings, or 100 dollars for 1000 blog links and similar things to that nature (spam). Well let me get into why you should stay away from certain things like this and why its just mainly a quick way for someone to get money that does not run a legitimate firm.

You know I’ll be completely honest most generally when someone is charging such a low priced model for SEO its probably because they don’t know what there doing or there just out to make a quick small buck (people fall for it all the time). The thing is your not going to make money unless you invest money into something or at least your time. If your not wanting to pay 20,30,40,50,60,70, or 80+ per link, paying some one hourly to find links, or doing it your self then alls I have to say is good luck your going to have to put money into it one way or another speaking your wanting to make money because most generally good links cost money bottom line and I think anyone would have to agree with me on this.

For example you run a furniture store, but you have no invetory in the store now think about it how are you going to make money if you don’t put money into it and thats the same for link building. I have even seen websites that guarantee rankings with certain packages and 99.9 percent of the time its a scam maybe you could get a ranking on some keyword that was not being searched for and had no competition to it what so ever.

I’ve also seen people buying links from blogs that contain nothing, but duplicate content or they see a link for cheap and they buy it, but at the same time there struggling with there online business - why? Simple the problem is people are expecting to get value back from a cheap scam and it don’t happen if a website contains duplicate content it contains no link value what so ever on that particular page and most generally these type of websites get penalized sooner or later.

If you wanting serious traffic and your wanting to build a serious online business take a look at some of things things you can do to make that happen you ask me there really is no secrets to starting an online business the secret to being successful or having a high income is to work hard and stay persistent and use good judgement.

  1. Define your business: Define your business and ask your self do you want this business to take off and become a profitable machine or do you just want to set around night and day searching for low priced SEO scammed links / business and hoping they come.
  2. Invest your Money: If you have the money you better start investing it I have had clients that wined about having no traffic, but as soon as they started investing some money they’ve notice a huge difference and then there very happy and they notice there sales increase which at about this time I’m thinking common sense.
  3. Invest Your Time: If your someone that don’t have the money, but have the time then start working your ass off install a blog and create good content and think virally. E-mail people and find them good one way links that will change your website rankings.

The idea about getting traffic to a website is to stay persistent and invest your money with someone that knows what there doing. I think many SEO companies have told clients this over and over and I have even seen numerous articles written on the internet about it. The reason business fail is because people don’t want to put there time into the business and work simple as that there always looking for that quick fix hoping they run into something, but then 10 years pass and there still talking about how they want to make millions, but yet they don’t put no time into anything or investing into something legitimate.

I could go on and on about SEO scams and how to start legitimate business I’m come from a family that is full of entrepreneurs and even one of my dads best friend owns a fortune 500 company, but did he build this over night no he put a lot of time into it before he actually started the company plus he ran a quite o few business out there so he knew what needed to be done and put money into the company by getting a loan and then it took it off.

They say 85-95 percent of business fail with then the first year and theres many reasons for this actually a lot of business don’t even take off in there first year generally it can take longer then that which don’t take me wrong you can create a large company with then a year, but you have to work at it and be smart and use good judgment, so in other words you can’t be one of them people that set around wining all the time because you don’t have no business, but yet you don’t put your time into doing things right such as e-mailing people for links, blog authoring, buying links, learning PPC, and anything else that has to do with online marketing.

The idea is to do it right and become successful there is nothing else to it all your trade secrets will come in just from working and things will make sense after you start doing things the right way.

Thanks :)

5 Tips for Internet Marketers and What they Should Know

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

Being an internet marketing is not all that hard, but I think a lot of people actually miss the whole concept of what needs to be done. I think some people got online marketing defined at a very good level such as knowing there ins and outs to what needs to be done. Which granted every one learns, but let me just list a few things every internet marketer should research clearly in depth from my experience and what i have learned I think this will be very helpful.

  • Know how to research Keywords: This one right here can be very confusing specially if you don’t know what your doing. Researching keywords is something that takes some skill its just not saying hey this keyword will do this and thats where my conversions lay it just don’t work like that. When defining keywords you need to know your measurements from the inside to the out. A great way to define your measurements and to figure out what keywords are actually converting and what keyword are bringing traffic is to run an ad words campaign and use that as your keyword research tool after you get done miming up your list therefore this will give you more accurate results on whats being searched for.
  • Know Your Markets: Define your markets and get famaliar with what needs to be done out there with certain markets. You need to know what is going to differentiate you from the rest of the crowd you need to identify what the consumers are searching for and know how to convert this product to the consumers.
  • Site Structure: You need to know how to map your website out such as urls, landing pages, and etc. You need to know what keywords are going to be optimize for what pages this is highly important because you want every page to act as a landing page of some sort specially on a service orientated website. This is actually something were working on in the redesign of our website.
  • Multiple Resources: Always have multiple resources for link building don’t ever depend on one technique the rest of your life cause that one technique might not work for every one or work for ever. For example one technique could work on your own website, but would it work for your clients? This is things people should think of if your not offering internet marketing services, but will be offering internet marketing services you need to think of what is going to work for every ones website and if you plan on growing big you need to think of how this can benefit with several people using it.
  • Learn PPC: Every online marketer should have some what idea of how PPC works if your just focused on organic rankings thats fine and dnady, but knowing how PPC works can benefit you big time when using organic search.

There is several things every online marketing should learn. Sometimes people think online marketing is just building a few links from spam sites and etc. But the facts are you must know your measurements such as ROI and know where your product is converting and how to make sales. These are some of the more important things you could have all the traffic in the world, but if your traffic is not converting highly into sales and a great ROI return then you have a problem

Targeting Niche Markets

Monday, November 26th, 2007

Niche markets are great to target for various reasons, but let me explain to you what a niche market is encase you don’t know. A niche market is a market thats focused on one particular thing generally a something smaller and not so broad for example a niche market keyword on Google would be considered something as Indiana Real Estate Agents that would be more of a niche approach now something like Real Estate Agents would probably be a more broad approach and not so much of a niche market.

There are various reason why targeting niche markets can be excellent for, take your time out to read the following below and how you can benefit from niche markets.

  • Less Competitive, but Higher Conversions: Niche markets are less competitive therefore easier to get into, and they convert better. Since a niche market is easier to get into it takes less money, but it will convert in a higher ROI that will allow you to get to to other levels with then your industry. Even the Google engineers have stated many times that the searches they do get to see on a daily bases are searches they’ve never seen before such as long tails, and I’d imagine these are geared towards more niche markets. The thing is a lot of people don’t actually find what there looking for until they search 3-5 times they might start with a broad term and then they start to narrow it down into a long tail which would be considered a more niche search.
  • Easier to develop and Map: Niche markets are easier to develope and map. When your targeting a niche market you can map your products out a lot more easier and know there going to sale a lot more easier, but at the same time creating higher profits with higher ROI.
  • Will Make you Grow: Targeting niche markets will make you grow so you can get to that point where you can focus on more broad markets. For example if your someone small you would want to focus on more of a niche market in the beginning stages and not get to carried away with how many you focus on try to focus on markets you know will turn into sales this will create more profits for you so you can broaden things up and give you more room to grow.

Niche markets are excellent for many things and I think any small website or company should focus on niche marketing for many reasons, but then again that depends. Think about it your focusing on 30 niches that are highly turning into sales, you almost have grabbed a competitive market in a different way because you have differentiated your self from every one else. When you focus on niche after niche that keeps converting your sales will turn out higher.

How to get more website traffic

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

traffic.jpgGetting website traffic is actually not that hard. The only thing it requires is work and skills and I think thats where a lot of people fail at. No offense, but I’d have to say a big majority of the reason people fail on getting more traffic to there website or there online business fails is due to people giving up they all suddenly think things are just going to work right away or maybe it didn’t work the way they planned out generally in the beginning things won’t work out like you plan, but after you start working it you’ll see more of the picture and things will then start to work out after you get more experience. You also need some sort of seed to plant to make things take off whether it being viral content or just something really innovative you’ve done, but anyways take a look at some of the tacts that can be used to drive more traffic to your website.

  • Link Building: We all know that building links will drive more traffic and this is the most important factor when getting more traffic you can build links from directories, buying links, natural links, viral content, and you name it. Build them on what ever you feel most comfortable with some people feel more comfortable buying links; some people feel more comfortable buying links and viral content; and then some people just feel more comfortable with viral links, so what ever you like to do or feel most comfortable with that is the approach you should take.
  • Blogs: I would recommended that every one install a blog on there site because you can express your self and who you are. This is also a great way to share your expertise on how good you are with certain stuff such as online marketing, web design, or whatever your niche is. And plus blogs are great for links as long as you focus on posting high quality viral content.
  • PPC (Pay-Per-Click): Some people love pay per click and this is something we have been experience with more our self you can hold a great profitability using ppc speaking you know what your doing. PPC can be an excellent way to get your website booming with traffic just make sure you mime up the right keywords that convert because if not then don’t plan on getting much conversion ratio and plan on losing a lot of money.
  • Online Advertising: Advertising on other websites is a great way to drive traffic, but to be honest I wouldn’t recommending it being your top priority because its just good for branding only if you ask me I think some people get a little carried away with it, but if your someone with a large budget then go for it you might generate some leads from it also it will get people more famaliar with the image your trying to promote, but this falls back under having blogs if you have a strong community people will want to advertising on your site, but your website will already be well known due to the strong community you have built up.
  • Landing Pages: I figured I’d bring this one up because landing pages are excellent for building up a RSS feed or e-mail list. Build a landing page that will grab your audience attention and hook them into subscribing to your e-mail list or feed. You can generate traffic to these landing pages with PPC, or even organic search give it a try.

Conclusion

There is several ways of getting traffic to your website. What I would suggest to any one that has a new website up is to make sure you have a blog integrated into your website and start posting viral content. Remember to use landing pages and try to put a signature into your blog post just saying hey subscribe to my blog and learn how to do this, or just something that will catch your audience attention and if you have ever done anything thats impressive make sure you list it on your landing page it will get people to subscribe.

Online marketing is like a puzzle, but you can make millions from it. I know several people that make a ton of money a month I have some friends that make over a million a year in revenue alone on there website such as monetizing it and etc and thats excluding there services they offer. Then I know a few people that make a ton of cash through affiliates the thing is the money that can be managed and made on the web is just crazy I have even made a lot my self for no longer then I’ve been at it ;).

Take a look at some of the things you should focus on when making money online. If you want your website successful and want traffic and sales then I would suggest learning the following below its helped me, and I’m sure it will help a ton of other people.

  1. PPC (Pay Per Click): Learn to use pay per click, some people might thing its a waste of money, but honestly if they think that then there just crazy PPC can drive sales like you’ve never seen before its just a matter of hitting the right landing pages with the right keywords, and there is several tools out there to generate keywords for you such as KeyCompete and plenty of more just do a Google search and start putting the tools together and fin out what works. The main goal in PPC is to pay low and profit, let me say that again pay low and profit.
  2. Organic Search: Learn organic search, organic can be very profitable once you get the traffic established. The idea behind getting organic traffic is to keep building links whether its through buying links, viral marketing, or link swapping. Just do what you got to do, I’d have to say organic is something that can make you a wealthy man if you learn it and the same for PPC. Generally thats my main focus is organic search and I’ve manage to rank some of the most competitive keywords on there with out even buying links which I won’t get into all that.
  3. Social Networking: Learn how social networking operates and how to benefit from it. Get into different communities such as Digg, Reddit, Stumble Upon and even forums. Where ever communities exist get involved with them and brand your self through these communities by being an expert in your field, you know be the hot shot.

Conclusion
These are just a few factors, but I think these are things that any one should learn when marketing online which anyone thats very famaliar with marketing online they know its a lot more in depth then that, but give your self some time out and learn how these things work such as organic search, social networking, and PPC. You can combine these things together to learn other things, or create patterns that will bring more traffic to your website.

Grabbing the Long Tail Search Markets

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Something that a lot of people have there mind on are big broad terms not every one, but some people do which granted broad term can drive traffic and are excellent for branding specially if you are a search marketer and really want to be known on branding purposes then a broad term would brand you pretty good if you ask me (juts shows your the best), but there is other markets you should tap into which is the the long tail a long tail market.

So What is the Long Tail?

The long tail search is a search that is built around a certain foundation or keyword most generally its built around a competitive market, but more niche related. For example you are targeting real estate which is a very brandable and strong market to approach, but why not try to target something like state by state, city by city, and so on.

For example lets do a long tail search market such as Indiana Real Estate Agents, Ohio Real Estate, Indiana Real Estate Services, and so on now I’m just using these for an example when you do tap into the long tails make sure that your doing your research on the keywords and most generally the idea is to just build around a competitive keywords and make it niche related that is related to what your offering of course.

Why are the Long Tail Markets Beneficial?

  1. Conversion Ratio: Generally with the long tail your conversion ratio is higher then what a broad term would hold. The reason behind this is because your targeting a niche market that will convert better because the consumers are looking for that specific item lets say there looking to buy the movie ET well if you target certain keywords on search engines such as ET Movies instead of Movies most generally ET Movies For sell, Et Movies, Et Movie Download, or whatever will convert way higher then what a broad term would, and yes it will take a long more long tail keywords to drive the same traffic as what movies would of course, but over all you would get a higher conversion ratio.
  2. Less Competitive: A long tail market is less competitive of course, and cheaper to drive sales through, and Google has even stated that 50 percent of the searches they do get to see that more then 25 percent of them are searches they have never seen before such as new searches this is why its important to build long tail trends around your more broad terms.

How to Identify the Long Tail Markets?

Identifying the long tail markets is pretty simple, but then again time consuming. You can use several tools to identify how many searches your certain long tail is getting such as Google Adwords, and of course numerous other tools, but to be quite honest with you the best thing to do is to just start testing and just build around your broad terms into all your products such as your inner pages and etc by using brand names, model numbers, and just straight specific product names.

Conclusion

I kind of wrapped this topic up quicker then what I thought I was going to, but I don’t think there really needs to be much more said about it. If you just take the time out and learn your long tail patterns it will start to come together. Also I’m sure I’ll have a post on here about finding the long tail markets sooner or later, so make sure your subscribed to our RSS feed below if your not subscribe. :)

Why SEO’s Should Use Web Pro News

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Publishing content online is something that every one does sooner or later speaking they are marketing there website online, and there is tons of article directories to submit your content to, but if your an SEO you should really start looking into websites like Web Pro News.

The reason I say submit quality articles to places such as Web Pro News is because a lot of people that go to webpronews go to the conferences, and generally these people are into the community and this is way to establish your self as an expert or a way to promote your name or at least get your self known in you field, so you can get other people familiar with you. Plus there is a handful of helpful articles over at webpronews along with interviews that are done with Jeremy Shoemaker (AKA shoemoney), AaronWall, and many other well known people through out the social communities.

Anyways give it a try and start submitting its a excellent place to start submitting your content to and make sure the content is unique they have a very high editorial status on there articles which is a good thing. Any site that has high editorial status is a plus plus by every means, so once again visit WebProNews and start submitting.

Recommended SEO Tools

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

There are some great SEO Tools how there, and that can become very helpful such as for PPC and for organic search. You know I hardly ever even use them anymore I do, but not as much as what I use to. I just kind of play around with the search results and familiarize my self with them, but hey they can still be great for the novice user, or even the advanced user take a look at some of the tools I listed below.

Density Tools
Density tools are great to check your page density such as keywords and etc. When I first starting playing around in SEO world I use to use them all the time, but now as I speak I don’t ever use them. Maybe every great once and awhile such as consulting clients on how to use them, and etc.

Density Tool Resources

Code Validation Tools

I wouldn’t consider code validating is a SEO factor at all, but still some people like to make sure there code validates.

Code Validation Tool Resources

Inbound Link Checker

These tools can become very helpful specially if your someone that is always getting links from your content. Inbound link checkers can check your back link anchor text, how many links you have, get inbound links from Yahoo, Google, or MSN, and there is many other tools out there. If you check Jim boykin’s link out below you’ll see that he has a nice list of SEO Tools, and he even has a few tools that check what your linking out to, so you know if your linking out to great sites or not, or I should say if your website is linking out to great sites if there is multiple users using your site you could use this to check it.

Inbound Link Checker Resources

Domain Tools
I probably use domains tools more then anything. Such as class c IP checkers, domain age tools, and you name it. They can come quite into handy. The reason I like the class c ip checker is because you can tell if domains are coming from the same class c ip I generally use this on something if I’m a little sketchy about a certain website, or websites.

Domain Tools Resources

Keyword Suggestions Tools
Keyword suggestions tools can be helpful for determining the right keyword to target such as long tails, competitive terms, and etc. What you do is just mainly enter in a keyword into a keyword suggester tool and ti will bring back numerous search results that have been searched for and you can star targeting these terms by building links into your website with your keyword in the anchor text (mix them up).

Keyword Suggestion Tools Resources

There are numerous SEO Tools out there, Bob Mutch owner of SEO Company (and friend) has compiled a large list of SEO Tools thats are very helpful. Now keep in mind SEO tools are not meant to be 200 percent accurate, but they give you somewhat idea on whats going on with search engines and etc. I would highly recommended checking out keyword research tools like keycompete.com, compete.com, and wordtrack.com these tools are pretty nifty.
