There is several reasons why you should attend SES conferences. SES conferences offer some very valuable information and its about being part of the community of course. When you become part of the community things flow a little bit better business wise, and you learn stuff you never thought about learning.

1. Education, There is major education involved at ses shows some of the most well known seos and marketers practically share there secrets well I wouldn’t say share there secrets, but they pretty much tell you where there making there money at, so the rest would be for you to figure out.
2. Production, Attending SES shows make you look more productive like you are more serious about your business model and when people know you attend the shows they look upon you more highly believe it or not, but then again depends on the person.
3. Friends, You will meet all types of people and more then likely become friends with people you never though you would be friends with, its just all around great experience.
4. Parties, The parties they rock from what I hear, and you know how people get when there on Booze they start sharing there favorably secrets.
5. Business, You can meet new clients, but quite honesty I wouldn’t focus on this as much just focus on getting famaliar with every one, making friends, become part of the community, and things will work out quite well on the business behalf.
6. Meeting, You will meet people that you probably know on the web, but really never had a chance to meet them in person. For example if you know a really well known SEO, or marketer on the web chances are they go to SES conferences.
7. Drama, Well if you attend the sessions it always fun to watch people argue about search, specially the big debate that went on about paid links that I never got to see.

I have not made it to SES unfortunately yet, a lot of my friends tell me I need to go, so I think I might just go to the one in Santa Clara well SMX anyways, but from what I hear SES conferences are just a well around educational center. Some people say there expensive, and I’m thinking are you kidding me there cheap its well worth the investment. The people you get to network with, and meet. The trades you learn from other people, the parties. I mean you name it.

I was just reading a recent post made from Aaron Wall called Paid Links are Not SPAM. I guess the big debate at SES San Jose 2007 is that buying text links is spam, and Matt Cutts ahead of the Google Link Spam team is stating that they are spam, and Google want more cleaner organic results.
