Updating and Improving Old Content

Improving old content can sometimes spark your website. Specially content that is getting more traffic for example you notice a page thats getting more traffic then any other page on your website why not improve that page and continue to improve any other pages that draw in traffic therefore its more likable and linkable by other people. A way of checking to see what pages get the most traffic would be considerably to use Google Analytics or some type of tracking device for your traffic of course.

When you go back through the content just review it and look it over think to your self what could be improved and why could it be improved. Do some more research for that particular article that you have written about. Things like this can have a major effect maybe not right away, but as you keep improving old content it will become more valuable and content is something that is highly important on the internet. Take a look at some of the things that might help you when you review your old content.

  1. Research your Content - Go back through and research your content see why it needs to be improved, make sure the content is updated to its latest taste. You can even do a Google search of course and see what you could do to add or improve it.
  2. Detail Your Content - Go back through you content and detail it, maybe you need to be more precise about your content such as going more in depth with certain topics and etc.
  3. Add Images - Maybe you need to add some images this is a more creativity approach which can change the readers mind a little.
  4. Check for Dead Links - Make sure that all your links are still linking out properly and no dead links are located on the post of course or article.
  5. Title Check - You might not want to change the title, but say for example you have had a lot of positive feedback on your post, but you think the title is not catching people on social networks and search engines if thats the case then think of a more creative title that will hook your readers into reading it, so therefore when they do read it they’ll like it.
  6. Spell Check and Grammar - This is something I need to do I’ll admit, but go back through all your content and check the grammar and spelling.

There is several things you can do to update old existing content. The main idea is to just re-read the content and check it. Maybe it needs to be more viral, detailed, or just over all improved. This is very highly important on large articles and online e books for example say you wrote a 15 page article up on how to build links, or how to build a blog that was a very long article you would definitely want to go back from time to time and update this content to make sure its at its best and fit for every one.
