Top Quality Web Directories
You know I have heard a lot of controversy hear lately on web directories and what are the best one to use, or who has a good directory or who’s directory sucks. Quite honestly I don’t care and I think there is a lot of good directories out there and I’ll name a few off, and tell you why I think there good directories.
Another thing is keep in mind generally a well branded directory, I should say a more well known one is always typically better. Then again you can not say that I have seen some very good directories a lot of people are not famaliar with and they hardly have any outbound links on the page, and have high pr. Generally I keep these to my self :).
Ok lets talk about Aviva Web Directory and why I think its a well directory I would say on the upper scale. I’m being quite honest cause if I thought it was a shit directory I would express it that way, or basically I would not even bring the directory up. Cause that wouldn’t be to professional talking about a directory bad, I’m sure a lot of directories that are newer will be good directories one day, speaking the person promotes them well. (so maybe select few).
Ok lets get back to Aviva, the reason I brought Aviva web directory up for was because I have heard some bad rumors go on about it. For example over at v7n.com I have heard a quite of few people or just people in general talk about how Aviva is expensive or its a yearly price and why would I want to pay a yearly price. I mean come on people use your common since generally when someone is charging a yearly fee its because there promoting it good ,and putting more money back into it.
Generally the person might make more profit all the directory, but then again there more promotion money for the directory. Plus it keeps the outbound linkage down in the directory. So if you ask me I think its worth the price we actually use Aviva directory and recommended it to our clients when they call, and it is included in our top package for our ds-2 that we put our clients into, and believe me we wouldn’t use trash directories.
So if you wondering why its a yearly fee, its because its a quality directory. Which granted there is a lot of directories out there that charge a 1 time fee, but generally the *well promoted* web directory are a yearly fee. If you ask me thats better, keeps better profile all together take a look at the list below on why yearly paid directories are generally better.
- More Promotion money for the web directory (unless the owner is greedy)
- Keeps the outbound links down, and keeps your link setting on a higher pr page.
- The promotion money can be used for more authority links such coming from old websites.
I could come up with many reasons I just want to get that across another example of how you would tell if a directory has some pretty good page rank through the site would be to check the details page for example go to the details page now you see how the links are setting on a pr3 page. Now look at the page rank, see how the details page carries page rank thats a plus plus in my book which granted there is a few outbounds to other sites under resources, but over all quality is a+.
Thats some of the things you should look for when submitting to directories specially how well the page rank is flowing through out the website, and check the editorial status of the web directory of course. One more quick thing sponsored listings are always better because they set on higher pr pages.
