Viral Marketing Stand By :)

Building buzz in the web sphere can make small brands look big, or grow a small brand into a large brand if done effectively. The reason I say small brands can hit growth at a faster rate is because most generally high quality brands are built through image, buzz marketing, and etc.

Lets say a blog for example you ever notice some of the biggest blogs on the web grow through buzz marketing in other words creating shake in the web world so the popularity of that blog increases, and popularity around a brand can be effective if leveraged right.

I think every one has talked about the hotmail that literally exploited over night, not really, but with then a few months hot mail grew from nothing to millions of users with then a quickness, but how did this happen?

Simple hotmail successfully launched there product as a free e-mailing service, but at the same time they had there name plugged into every one e-mails at the bottom pretty much a signature that they inserted into all out going e-mail, so therefore every one else would see this and then they would decide to sign up.

Thats just an example of word of mouth marketing, viral marketing, buzz marketing or whatever you want to consider it, but honestly its considered a more of a viral market approach then anything because it grew so fast, but at the same time it created a word of mouth market to because it grew so fast, so it basically just kept growing.

Then you have some ideas that just literally grow from planting a seed somewhere when I refer to planting a seed I’m referring to something that someone might do such as writing an article up then out of the middle of no where it hits Diggs home page and is mentioned on numerous news sites and gets 1000’s of links which will result in higher search engine rankings; therefore, this results in more traffic, buzz, and etc.

The idea though honestly behind viral marketing is to test, test, and test and see what works not everything will work off the get go, but as you keep approaching and keeping your mind into a viral marketing approach things will start to come together thats just how it works to be honest with you there is some things I thought would never work and other people have thought my ideas were crazy at certain times, but I really didn’t care what others had to say I put the idea into place and its grew like a tree on steroids which I won’t get into what I did :).

Viral and word of mouth marketing is sometimes really hard to track. But now there’s a site called BzzAgent. If a company wants to try to create a word of mouth campaign, BzzAgent will promote agents, or unpaid volunteers, to talk about the company’s services or products. The agents aren’t required to say anything good or bad about it… they just tell it like it is. The agents then report back to the BzzAgent site, talking about any word of mouth about the company. This is then reported back to the company, and voila, you have measured word of mouth. Cool, huh?

    Erica,

To a degree viral marketing is what creates buzz marketing it just depends on how you use your viral marketing in other words what type of patterns you create such as a negative market, positive market, controversy market, and etc.

    Just my opinion ;)

Also welcome to the blog Erica :)

    Erica,

I just read what you posted again sorry I didn’t read the whole thing, honestly I think people should talk about someone products naturally in other words something that creates a market, I mean paying people to talk about your market defeats the purpose just my opinion.

I prefer a more natural approach which granted if you have friends you can use them to build social networks to build markets, but paying people to market for you is a little different, but then again every one has there techniques my technique is more of a natural approach.

Another thing I like to do with then my company is get every one together and get them motivated and get people talking up beat about the company in a positive way, hard to explain…

I totally agree with you…”natural” word of mouth is most effective, of course. But what BzzAgent does is get your company’s message out there, delivering your product to the agents (who are NOT paid, by the way, they are strictly volunteers). They can then talk about the company if it comes up naturally in conversation.

However I do know where you’re coming from. The problem with that is measurement. How do you “measure” word of mouth? This is an option that obviously doesn’t measure all of this “natural” buzz, but is a start to helping marketers to understand its effectiveness.

    Thanks for your input!

    Erica,

Measurement comes with time, you cant really measure markets, but what you can do is promote and do something outstanding that will create word of mouth the idea is the harder you promote and the more viral you create the more leverage you got to work with and so on….

For example were in the top 10 for website design which took about 5 1/2 months it created a word of mouth effect, but at the same time leads through that keyword and many others, but this gives us more of a brand to work with and gives people something to talk about…

for example I get people calling us or me telling us blah blah recommended us because you have been successful with search engines…

    see what I’m saying?

    Erica,

In other words your creating a viral market and leveraging into what ever direction you want such as sales and etc.

Check this out its a post one of my friends wrote up its kind of irrelevant to what were talking about, but at the same time its releavnt.

http://www.internet-marketing-blog.com/2006/02/05/how-to-build-a-successful-forum/
After John got the forum going he leveraged the current people he had and etc.

Thats basically all marketing is leverage and etc nothing complexed to it, but motivation and effort. (staying focused) if you ask me :)
