Link Baits with controversy!

What is a link bait, its where you gather 1000’s of links at at time, but let me get into this a little bit deeper. The thing about link baits of course is that it is excellent for search engine rankings, the more links you get the higher you rank. Depending on what page the links are pointing to, but then again I believe it typically levels out through out the whole website one way or another as long as your website structure is laid out (like page rank, and the inbound links to that page).

Take a look at some of the tactics below that can be used for link baits.

  1. Ad words, Yes thats right use ad words to gain links say for example you write up a very interesting article, and you have no traffic. Simple sign up for ad words account target some relevant keywords and direct them to that link bait page you have. Check the recent post I made out AdWords for LinkBait
  2. Viral Hook Content, Yes thats right viral hook content I mean how else would the link bait viral out, make the articles interesting sometimes it can take major controversy to draw link baits in, as bad as it sounds. I’d say sometimes controversy over any topic can draw more links then anything, just be careful and don’t do it the wrong way. (be smart about it)
  3. Social Media Websites, Yes use social media websites with eye catching titles like how I made 100k in 1 week. Every one would want to read that, they would be like what? Therefore the title will viral them right in.
  4. Passion, be very passionate when you write. Thats what a weblog was originally made for was journalism and etc. Now every one is blogging about everything in there mind. Just make sure you speak your mind and watch the effect on others.
  5. Make people mad in a good way, as funny as it sounds yes it works. Just watch how you use this technique. I think some of the best marketers out there draw peoples attention in a controversy, but it works!
  6. Link Out, when your doing a link bait always make sure your linking out to other sites, but then again depends on what type of link baits your trying to achieve.
  7. Traffic, If you don’t catch links off the first article just keep writing, and writing. Eventually traffic will start to build up and people will find the articles, and then starting linking to them.

There are several ways to capture links and create controversy. Thats like just a minute ago I did a post on making 1k a day over at v7n.com. The title was Hows it Feels to Make 1k Plus a day I’m doing it (share your earnings) next thing I know it created controversy, but sometimes you got to watch how you do this, and if people ever say anything to you just let it flow its funny watch how things roll around back and forth.(this is just an example, but direct it to your weblog of course)

Similar case John Chow made in his weblog he actually stated in his pdf book on how to make money blogging that creating controversy can be a good thing. Well actually he said accept negative comments because if you are not making people mad then your not doing something right.

Its ok to create controversy, but just watch how you do it. Just like I said earlier I think sometimes the best marketing is from controversy something that will viral things out if you get my drift, take a look at Matt Cutts Advice On Link Baits. Another similar example on link baits and drawing traffic to your weblog was Aaron Wall. How did he get so popular it all started over the blogging with the company that sued him and etc before he knew it he was in Wall Street Journal Magazine and etc, I”m pretty sure thats what happen from what I researched anyways.

  3. Michael VanDeMar Says:

Doing great until you got called out for using these tactics to spam the forum you mentioned in the thread. No offense.

  4. Tyler Dewitt Says:

Michael VanDeMar: Well the whole thing was from what the moderator told me was because I just drop the link, if I would of put some article around it I would of been fine.

Ohh well, we got plenty of search engine traffic and community drive to our website and its just increasing :).

  5. Tyler Dewitt Says:

Michael VanDeMar: Well the mod didn’t say it would of been fine, but look at all the link drops you get over there and articles are based around it, I don’t see anything wrong with it personally as long as its valuable content, I got 4 reps with then 10 minutes, but ohh well :) digitalpoint is a good place.

Michael VanDeMar: One more thing I notice the post you did over at Rand fishkin the troll defense, I’d have to say Rand knows how to stir controversy up then turns it into a positive vibe. Hes very good with link baits and etc.
