Old Domains Work Better For Link Building
Ever heard of the saying buy an old domain and build links into it. Well the reason being is because old domains always rank better, they are like gold in Google’s eyes. For example you have a domain that is dated back to 1999 and you build links into it the results of the links being built into it will have a better outcome then what building links into a new domain would. New domains hardly even rank I just registered a domain the other day that is brand spanking new and it has got a bunch links naturally, but its still not ranking for any of the anchor text which of course this is what new domains do.
Generally it takes a good 2-3 years for your links to become highly effective. Now doesn’t mean you can’t build links into a new domain and it won’t work, but it will just take a lot more work then what it would on an old domain. Thats why if you can find a domain that relevant to your business and it will work use it. Unless your really focused in on the branding of the domain which personally that would be me.
I have a client that does monthly link building with us and hes got a pretty old domain, but whats quite surprising is that he hardly built any links into his domain, but yet hes ranking for some very competitive key terms. Put it this way it shot from page 10 to page 1 with hardly any link building for a very competitive key term this is because his domain age is old. I also had another client that had a domain from 1996, and he has a page rank 3 domain, but yet hes ranking for some very high brand name keywords that are being searched for and he is currently the largest reseller for Hallmark Ornaments.
I was thinking the other day I wish I had all my old domains from 15 years ago that I registered I just pratically let them fall off the earth. If i would of had these domains I just could not imagine what they would be worth today I had one domain that was www.his.com I think thats what it was, I just remember having a bunch of short domains for websites I was playing around with, but I let the fall off.
If you have a chance of buying some old domains that have links into them and its related to your business model buy the domains and 301 redirect the whole thing to your website this should give your new domain some trust. I do know a few people that have done that I had one client 301 redirect like 5 of his domains he had that were super old that he was just setting on and he said he got excellent results from it, which I’d imagine so because they was all old domains and had links into them that was related to his company.
