Google Ranking Factors and Tips

You know from my study there is a lot of rankings factors that Google carries, and then again I don’t think Google is as accurate as what every one seems to thinks. In other words Google is not as pro efficient on there results as what they claim to be, anyways read on I took some time out to write this post up.

  • Factor 1 (Domain Age) Domain age plays a vital roll in rankings I had a client that I was working on his website and he had hardly no inbound links, but was getting slammed with traffic why because his domain age was dated back to 1996, his links were old.Ok your probably asking, well how can I get by that I have a 2007 domain, or a new domain I just registered, but I want to accomplish rankings with it a little bit faster, and more accurately. Simple, the idea is 1. By a old domain that is relative to your business of course, 2. Buy an old domain and redirect it to your new domain. These are two techniques you can use, but whatever you do don’t redirect a domain that is totally non-related to your niche.
  • Factor 2 (Inbound Links) Yes Indeed every one knows SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is about links of course, but when targeting rankings for certain keyword phrases its always best to use the exact phrase, so say your trying to rank for Online Games well use that in your inbound anchor text. Every one and awhile though make sure you mix it up, don’t use non-irrelevant keywords like click here, my site, our home page, or anything to that nature. Use something like Play Online Games, therefore you got another good keyword in there, and its mixed up.
  • Factor 3 (Header Tags, Title Tags, and General HTML Tags) Thats right header tags can have an effect on your rankings, but not as important as your inbound links at all. Title tags are very important too, generally when your focusing on title tags, url keywords and etc try doing this on a weblog. Always make sure to rewrite your word press urls for example I have set mine up as Custom, Specify /%category%/%postname%/ you can set this under Options->Permalinks->Custom, Specify Below. You can’t miss it, and then I would suggest applying what I just stated, most certainly.
  • Factor 4 (Page Rank) Generally page rank helps most certainly, but where page rank comes most effective at is the keyword on the content of the page. Say for example you have a higher density of a certain amout of keywords then someone else does, and you two have the same page rank the page with higher density will rank higher. Keep in mind though there is several factors that determines rankings like inbound links and etc, but generally page rank just tells “how important a page is”.

Which granted there is 1000’s of bits and pieces that make up rankings I’d imagine, but generally I wouldn’t look into it too deep as we all know its all about links. The more links you have generally the higher rankings you’ll achieve. Take a look at some of the related links I post below that are relative to factors 1,2,3, and 4.

There you guys go that should give you a good start, and a great map on measuring success with search engines which granted there a lot to search marketing in general, but these are more in depth factors on what rankings are based upon. Its up to you to create the ideas, and innovations if you need help building links, visit Link Building 2007 which I wrote personally my self, and is a very effective handbook for link build resources and tips.

Below I also listed several websites where you can buy old domains.

Digital Point Old Domains (Great Resource)
Your Domain (My all time favorite website)

Which granted you can come across old domains in several places, but I would suggest checking out the forums and specially yourdomain.com which has a great list of domains at a reasonable price. Then again just depends on what the domain is worth to you, but old established domains are like gold too Google! Give it try!
