SEO and Same Class C IP Blocks Effect Rankings

I have decided to make this post because I notice a lot of web masters i have been talking to, or web masters asking me questions about this, and as an seo this is important, and we must know what a class c block is when hosting multiple websites, or trying to achieve unique contextual links.

Let me go over some basics of what a ip address is, and the classes of a ip, and what they obtain first evolve a ip address stand for Internet protocol address, its a unique address given to your network / computer, similar to a house every house has an address where the mail goes, or packets :).

Think of a octet as a byte on a modern computer and each octet is separated by a ., this type of pattern is known as a dotted decimal notation ‘( e.g. 201.103.61.121 )’, So the lowest number is 0.0.0.0 and the highest is 255.255.255.255.

Class A Network — This is a binary address that starts at 0, and goes from anywhere to 1 - 126 in a class a range, but an example of a class A ip would be 102.134.243.234, and 134.243.234 being the host (confused yet?), if so don’t worry I’m going to post some links at the bottom about this.

Class B Network — Class b starts with a binary of 10, let me tell you what, and let me get out of the details here, and show you exactly what you need too look for when searching for class c matches , but I’ll post some links that give you a better idea of the classes in ip ranges.

Class C Network — Binary number that starts at 110.

There is a really good example of what to look for on class c blocks here Search Engine Watch

There is class D and E too, which granted its not too confused just focus on what you need to, and don’t look into it no further then what it needs to be, when I was learning to program, and was learning multiple protocols when I was growing up I always found this stuff confusing at times, and use to bang my head up against the wall trying to figure the stuff out, but then I gave it a break and gave it a better perspective and it started to make since, just some advice!

So basically we don’t want ips that set on the same class c block, if we have a bunch of domains hosted through a web hosting company on class c block, you could be at deed of being penalized, but then again depending on how many domains you own, and how well your website is targeted, but this is some things to worry about specially when getting links always check to make sure they are unique links, and not a bunch of links setting on the same class c blocks, below i have listed more information, and please check out Domain Tools for seo tools that will do class c checks on domain.s
