301 redirects are special
You know I like 301 redirect, but I’ll tell you what if you plan on ever doing one do it at a time that you thinks best to do one at. It has been 4 weeks and are traffic is still 20 times lower then what it should be since we did our 301 redirect, but it takes some time. I was actually talking to Jim Boykin about this and he told me basically be patient they take time, and I was thinking yea I should probably be a little bit more patient, but when you have as competitive keyword ranking as what we do kind get you ticking.
There are some things that 301 redirects are excellent for such as affiliates and etc. This is something that a lot of people don’t know about, say you launce an affiliate program. Well say you pay every one $25 dollars for every widget you sale to a visitor that was referred from there site well you get money and they get money, but the thing is that every one don’t know is that there placing your link on there site, and what you want to do in this process is make sure there sites are 301 redirecting to your site. When you have a 301 redirect from all them links and banner this will credit your site for page rank juice, and hell require them to put a text link under the banner or something similar.
This is an excellent way of getting links and generally you will get some high quality sites from this because people that are probably promoting the affiliates for you will have it listed on a higher quality page or even there home page which contains the most page rank. There is a lot of people that do this, but are generally more well known SEOS and things to that nature not every one thinks of it like that, so next time you launce an affiliate or something similar think about that sneak little 301.
