Keyword Research Measurement Tips (learn what converts best)
Conducting a keyword research can be something that is timely specially if your not famaliar with the certain niche your conducting it for. There are several ways to conduct a keyword research and getting accurate measurements and that right there is what its all about is knowing your measurements and whats converting the best.
Anyways Read on and I’ll give you a few tips on how to conduct a research.
Research Pages
Research each page on your website so you will know or at least have an idea of what vertical you want to target for each given page on your website. Sometimes you might not feel like there certain keywords that could correlate with certain pages on your website, but there is you need to set down and brain storm, and figure out whats going to work best and whats not going to work. If you have a page that is related to baby carriages, then you’d build related keywords around that page so all your search traffic will be at its highest conversions levels.
You want to make sure each page on your website is related to the keyword that your optimizing for. Most generally the more related the keywords the higher the conversions which granted you can use some off topic keywords and they might convert, but on your inner pages try to stay away from big broad terms always use your long tails towards your inner pages a few broad terms might be ok, but long tails generally convert better like I stated, so therefore you will have a better overall ROI (Return on Investment).
Keyword Tools
There are several tools to use, now don’t take these tools into considerations such as having an accurate measurement by any means. The idea is to know your measurements and where your conversions are coming from specially in affiliate marketing, but I’ll get more into how can measure your traffic with certain keywords right off the bat, but for now check out some of the tools located below.
- Free WordTracker Keyword Suggestion Tool: Word Tracker offers a free tool report and a paid tool report. Which of course the paid tool report is better, but if your just getting into the game play around with the free tool at first it will mime you up around 100 keywords so for example if you run a search on Baby Gifts it will give you a list of recommedations on what you should use. Like I stated earlier this is just a suggestion tool it will give you keyword suggestions on what to use and whats being search the most. Overall its more accurate on giving you what terms have the highest searches. So for example Baby Gifts will show a higher result because its getting searched more then Baby Gift Products, or something similar.
- Adwords Keyword Tool: Adwords keyword tool gives you an estimate search volume it don’t precisely give you a number or anything like that, but like I have said it just gives you an idea on whats being search for. It will return results such as Estimated Search Volume, Advertiser Competition, Monthly Search Volume, and etc. You can also add these keywords to your AdWords campaign after you get done researching them which I wouldn’t suggest doing that. It is always best to hand pick the keywords or I should say eliminating the ones that don’t correlate with your business model (keep in mind high conversions).
- Keycompete: Keycompete is a great tool I love this tool more then anything most generally this tool is used for AdWords, but it could be used for organic search. This tool will scrape your competitor keywords and give you the keywords there using. It works very well I’ve used it on a quite of few things.
Adwords for Measurements
You can use adwords for a measurements and its well worth the investment. Mime up your keyword list and then run an ad words campaign and see what is getting searched for the most and whats getting the most clicks. This can give you some true data results. If you haven’t used adwords then I would suggest checking it out its very powerful tool for search marketing and can be very profitable, but you can also use it as a keyword tool for your measurements when optimizing for organic search like I stated above ;).
Conclusion
The idea behind optimizing for organic search engines and performing keyword research is to know your measurements, know what works best and why its working best of course. You might not get the best measurements for months specially if your unexperienced, but as time goes by and you keep working with it you’ll start to figure out what keywords are converting the best on certain pages, and the thing is make sure you always use very niche related keywords towards your inner pages they will convert very high don’t get all lost on them broad terms that drive 20 times more traffic focus on the long tail of the search something that will convert at a high ratio therefore your measurements and over all conversions will be at its highest.
