Long Tails Vs Short Phrases SEO
Quite honestly I haven’t been shooting for too many long tails here lately like I should. Mainly all of our rankings are from competitive keywords, but there can be some leads with long tails of course cause a big majority of the time when people are searching for long tails they’ve already made up there mind what there looking for, so what does that mean?
You got Conversions!
Generally a long tail keyword will convert pretty well, but then again your competitive keywords are excellent for sales and branding of course. What I typically try to do is shoot for competitive keywords of course because there excellent for brand awareness and leads. Then again I think long tails are very important like I said. If I’m aiming for long tails I’ll think of the keywords that are on my website pages and generally I’ll hit the long tails to my inner pages and my landing pages for example take a look at our page at Contextual Link Building.
That page has our links that we sale of course, so for a page like this I will shoot for keywords such as Internet Advertising Services, Contextual Advertising, Link Building Services, Link Building, Buy Contextual Links, Online Advertising Services, Online Advertising, and etc the list goes on, and on. After optimizing so many keywords for this particular page you will definitely get leads and conversions and the best thing of all is that its a great landing page boom they hit the page and they buy the links.
Basically just keep in mind, and don’t just shoot competitive keywords only. Cause imagine how much traffic your actually missing from you long tail searches, so my advise would be optimize for long tails and competitive key terms. Some ways that you can get a better idea on what keywords to use would be to check out our SEO Tools Page once you have found some good tools to use and have mimed up some keywords use AdWords to find out exactly how many searches or I should say impressions that keyword is getting. You can find a recent post I did on this at Best Tools to Use for Keyword Research.
