Outbound Linking (8 tips) - Improves Search Engines Rankings, or False?

I think outbound linking does help with search, even Jim Boykin(outbound Linking) would back me up on this one, and SEO Company. Which granted I guess it really don’t matter, but one thing I have notice about a lot of seos on the web is that that think outbound linking don’t help the relevancy of the page, this is either because there unexperienced, or still learning which granted there is nothing wrong with that.

Outbound linking can help the relevancy of your website, the high outbound links you got the better. Plus linking out to other people is a plus period. For example when your are outbound linking to people on your blogs typically other bloggers are thankful for that, and generally sometime will give you links back depending on the article, and etc. I’m going to go over some tips, and some things to look for when outbound linking on your blog, articles, or your webiste in general.

  1. Relevant Links - Always make sure that you are linking out to relevant links, if you are using a blog and the topic is website usability and design, then outbound your links to relevant topic websites.
  2. Quality - Try to keep the quality of your outbound links up, which granted lower end websites won’t hurt, but just make sure there not in bad neighborhoods, and the topic is relevant.
  3. Edus, Gov - Link out to edus, and gov links at all possible. If enough traffic is sent that way from you blog, or article you wrote you never know you might get a link back.
  4. Link like you want links - Link out to others like you would want them to link to you.
  5. Not To many outbounds - Its okay to link out to a lot of sites, but don’t get carried away with linking out.
  6. Use keywords - If at all possible use the most relevant keywords in outbound linking, therefore you might get the same in return.
  7. Is it ranking? - If the outbound links are ranking, then typically its a good site to link to.
  8. Content - Is the outbound link contain quality content, if it has quality content people will not only visit the site, but people will come back to read more articles on your site because you offer educational information with great outbound links.

Now granted some of these might not sound like they matter, but pratice all these, and use common sense when doing outbound links in your blog, or articles. When you keep these techniques in mind and use them in daily bases sooner or later it will pay off, specially with link out to other bloggers, article writers, or website owners.
