What is considered an *authority link* in seo

You know once again I got another question from a prospect that does about over 5 million a year in sales through a guitar company, well I told him we was going to focus on authority links for his website, and he said great. Then he asked what an authority link is.

Well of course I explained it to him, but I think the problem is a lot of people don’t know what an authority link is, or they might presume they do. I will give you an better idea of what an authority link is, and how its special to have these types of links, and how it can build trust your website. (take a look below)

  1. Domain age is dated back to 1998 or sooner.
  2. High Page Rank (not always, but typically if its got high pr its got some good inbound links)
  3. Ranking High, and no supplemental pages
  4. Legit site, when I say legit not a site that is warez, or porn.

Above is some of the stuff you want to stay away from, which there can be several factors that can make an authority site, but lets keep it simple cause quite honestly age plays a major factor if its an old website and has a some what good page rank, then its a good link to have.

Old websites always rank higher, for example I had one client his domain was created in 1996 he is the largest reseller for Hallmark Ornaments, but he hardly has any inbound links, and they were all low page rank links, but all the links were coming from old sites that were pr3, and etc if even that, the site its self is a pr4.

Okay, but why is this website getting banged with traffic, and hes making a fortune from his website. Its called *authority* and *trust rank* these are very important, so my tip is to get high quality links from old websites whether the page rank is low or not if your getting it from an old website then its well worth it.

Just keep in mind when you look at the website make sure it has a clean profile, or not so many outbound links and make sure its listed by Google of course if the site has outbounds to non-relevant websites you should be ok, just make sure there not to many of them typically a few won’t hurt, but quality is a plus plus. I wouldn’t get all caught up on what people say about the outbounds on a page, just try to make sure the site is relevant towards your.
