How to price a website, and work with someone on getting one done with a set price.
You know I have gave out probably over 100k in quotes in the last month on websites, but pricing them can be a challenge at times, but then again very fairly simple concept to understand. The thing is when your pricing a website a big majority of the time the prospect will want a set price, so what do you do in a situation like this and your not sure how long it will take for many reasons whether your afraid you might hit a down fall in the project and get a lot hours wrapped up into it, or your prospect is just being totally indecisive.
When you come across a indecisive customer, or there not to sure what they want for there custom programming job or they say they want this, or they want that, and they just keep getting deeper with it, and then your thinking in your head this is going to be a night mare, I’ve never built one like this, or this guy just plain out don’t know what he wants. If your prospect is doing this have them document ate every little thing of the website from the in and the outs and get there end goals in what they want to achieve out of the site.
Once you got the contract over make sure they have signed it, or better yet the best thing to do is rewrite one your self professionaly, or have your attorney do it to avoid any conflicts its not always such a good idea signing a contact with a client, could be a lot of loop holes there, and plus you just never sign contact written from clients unless your working directly under them, or its a nda which is fine anything thing related to a confidentiality is fine.
Just make sure it looks good, and have them sign it, so therefore when they view it, and agree to it you have something to go by. Therefore if your client says I want this, or I want that, or this was suppose to be there you can pull that contract out and show what was written in the agreement, and then charge for additional modifications. (just standard business practice).
